For Shavuot we made flowers to decorate the sanctuary and synagogue. We took coffee filters and markers and colored the edges only. Then we sprayed the filters with waters which caused the colors the run all over the filter. Once the coffee filters dried we folded them in half, then for the stem of the flower we used a pipe cleaner. This was a fun and exciting craft to celebrate this special holiday!

Judaics Class
In school we are learning about Shavuot which is a diary holiday. The children and I decided that the best way to celebrate this holiday was to have cheesecake, so we made our own mini ones. All you need is one box of Jell-O No-Bake Cheesecake (The children really loved the cookie one), Nilla Wafers, a muffin pan, and cupcake liners. Put one nilla wafer in each liner as the crust, then follow the direction on the cheesecake box, and that is it. It is easy, fun and delicious!! Cheesecake makes Shavuot one of our favorite holidays!

Paper flowers for Shavuot
Although the gardenias are blooming outside, we decided the kind made with paper would hold up better for our hair wreathes. In honor of the celebration of Shavuot at school this Friday, each class has been busy making tissue paper flowers with the children to decorate the synagogue with. They are painted and sprayed with perfume, some used coffee filters and spray bottles with colored water in them, others used kleenex. In the end, we will have a synagogue filled with flowers and the children will take the extras to make wreathes to wear as they go to the synagogue gazebo to eat cheesecakes they are making with Miss Samantha later this week. What a way to celebrate spring!!!

Crayon melts
Yarok class melted crayons in the shape of the star of David. The children liked to peel the wrappers of the crayons and then they broke them up and placed many different colors in the star of David shaped muffin cups. Next, they placed them in the oven for 10 minutes. Then we had to place them in the fridge to cool off. When we took them out of the oven we thought all of the colors mixed as one but to our surprised when we pealed the muffin tin off they were multi colored and beautiful! They colored great as well. Good luck making all different shapes if you try it as well:-)

We had a Mothers Day Tea Party Luncheon on Friday! We enjoyed hot tea out of china tea cups with all of our parents. We had all sorts of food that the children picked out their own food and put it on their tray were they carried it back to their table, this gets them ready for kindergarten. We cooked muffins and decorated them with frosting. The children also made their own brownies, pasta, salad, cheese tray, cucumber tray, and c fruit tray! We really enjoyed our luncheon and playing dress up with our parents!

Outdoor Gardening Class
Looking for a fun water experiment? Try this preschool science activity to test which items sink or float. Have your child go on a nature walk outside in our environment or even collect items in the house. For example collect outside twigs, rocks, feathers, a cork, a crayon etc...Have the children think about what each item is made of and if they believe it will sink or float. This is a fun and educational experiment! Enjoy and have fun experimenting with your child!

Green Peace GOOP
Shalom, Yarok class has been learning about keeping PEACE. We made green peace goop out of borax, Elmer's glue. green food coloring and warm water. The children got to mix up the ingredients on there own and I told them to shape it like the planet earth. They loved the hands on texture it turned out to be. This is a great messy play activity and when they were finished I placed there goop in a zip lock bag and they got to take it home to share with their family and friends. We also read the Peace book so they understand what Peace really means. Every time someone enters our classroom they make the peace sign with their two fingers. They loved learning about peace!!!
